Tips for searching the Internet for multiple sclerosis

The flow of information on the Internet is enormous. Almost every day there is something new on multiple sclerosis (MS). Modern tools, latest exercises to train the brain, apps to support your therapy, etc. You may hear about innovative treatment possibilities for MS and are curious about whether this could help you or make your life easier. But how can you find reliable information on medical topics on the Internet?

  • Check the publisher: choose an institution or company that you know or that allows you to draw conclusions about the reliability of the information. The pages of a familiar MS support group or MS clinic area good starting points for an Internet search.
  • Look for the publication date: avoid outdated sources. Especially in the field of science and health, information often has a short shelf life.
  • Identify the objectives of the publication: advertising and information are not always clearly separated on the Internet.

Searching the Internet is not a substitute for a discussion with your doctor. If you have an important question about your illness, your doctor is your best advisor.
